What is the Meaning of Eva Genia?

The silly, fun-loving Esthetician that most people know simply as Eva, was named after two family members she never had the pleasure of meeting but mean a great deal to her. Both Eva and Genia lived during the Holocaust; Eva was a strong-willed, daring woman who made bold choices to help loved ones survive. Genia, her sister-in-law, was not as lucky and unfortunately didn’t survive the war. Knowing this, current Eva, lives her life like a yin-yang sign. She must walk through each day with bravery, make bold decisions to be the chaotic good she wishes to see in the world while also ensuring that everything she does is filled with compassion, because that’s what Genia would have needed during the time of the Holocaust to have survived.

As much as the company is her first and middle name, it’s more than that. It’s the legacy that led up to her that truly helped build the person she has become. She moves through life every day grateful for the gift of life and being able to do what she loves, functionally caring for others. It’s a true gift to be able to find joy in what you do while also doing good for people.

Kintsugi, also known as kintsukuroi, is an ancient Japanese mending technique. It is known for broken pieces, usually ceramic, essentially mended back together with gold flakes and ends up looking like a liquid gold glue. The end result was so beautiful that people started purposefully breaking their pottery to recreate this look.

If you ever walk into Eva’s treatment room, you’ll see two main visuals: galaxy and Kintsugi motifs.

The idea behind Kintsugi connecting to skincare is simple. It doesn’t matter how far your skin has gone off track, you can always bring it back to a healthy place and you will always be more beautiful than when you started. Eva herself has reactive hormonal skin, she was diagnosed with PCOS after she became a licensed Esthetician and took hold of her health. Clearing acne, inflammation, pigmentation, blackheads, and excess hair were just some of the long list of things on the to-do list. It’s never too late to begin your journey, healing is not linear, but this is not a space where you’re meant to do it alone.
